Hi folks - occasional internet access hoorah!! - took advantage of the window to say thanks for all the messages of support. My house is currently uninhabitable so issues around accommodation etc. to work thru. Aftershocks continue and the city is becoming a dustbowl as dry winds pick up. People range from quivering/ emotional to blank/ stoic.
Good to see my queued posts still dribbling thru into the tumblr consciousness!
Will be online occasionally as circumstances allow. Take care all :D

Thank you for taking the time to post an update; I know things probably have been hectic and worrisome at the same time. Sorry to hear about your home. My mother and stepfather had to have their condo completely redone after the 1994 Northridge, Cali. earthquake. Although there is a cost involved, material things can be repaired or replaced--not the case with lives. I am glad to hear that your children are okay. That's the most important thing! Stay strong, my friend. Resiliency prevails!

Thank you all for your many messages of support. By way of update on Christchurch Earthquake and how it has affected my family: My daughter and son managed to get to a safe place some 6km away from our home (which is damaged and surrounded by liquifaction about 500mm deep). The PGC building featured on many news reports and where survivors have been removed over the last 24 hours, is the building I worked at part-time doing maintenance cleaning to support myself while studying to finish my degree and doing voluntary work in community. For the community work I was nominated for free return trip for 2 to anywhere in the country as a thank you, which is why I am on vacation :/ in Auckland rather than at home. Hopefully by the end of today it will be clearer as to temporary housing etc. - I clearly will need other work but I’m sure there will be no shortage of options there. None of my friends have suffered major injury or loss of life but several have no homes now. I am frustrated and just want to get back there as soon as possible. Thanks again for your kind thoughts

Freaking out myself worrying about kids. They are safe now but no news of many friends. Building showing often in news (pancake collapse) is one of my maintenance contract clean jobs :// Mike suggests I wait a few days cos our house not liveable -nerves like overtight banjo strings!!

-new zealand -i live in christchurch but currently on vacation auckland. 2 of my kids in christchurch sheltering with friends - our home badly damaged will be in touch tumblr followers as i am able - cant fly home yet and phone access difficult - thanx for asking
